For accurate subtitling it is essential to ensure that tape ingest and digitisation delivers an accurately encoded media file without dropped frames and with an identical timecode to the source material. CAPture - restore subtitles from tape or capture live output

CAPture is a new tool from SysMedia that enables teletext subtitle data to be captured off-air or from tape and compiled into a subtitle file for archiving, repeat broadcast or amendment. Both scrolling (word-by-word) and block mode subtitles can be handled, with a conversion from scrolling format into block for subsequent re-editing and timing.

One great benefit of this tool is in restoring editorial access to subtitle data from tape or broadcast archives having VBI-encoded subtitles. This avoids the cost of having to re-subtitle repeated material with different cuts. Another benefit is in enabling subtitles from a first-pass live broadcast to be captured and tidied ready for a later repeat of the programme.
