SysMedia Ltd is a technology company specialising in the development, sales and support of information production and delivery systems used by the world's broadcasting market, as well as specialist test and measurement systems. The origins of the company date back to 1974, and it currently employs approximately 20 staff with offices at Horley in Surrey and Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire.
SysMedia's principal products are content management solutions for the broadcasting of teletext and digital text services. Having supplied all the major UK teletext service operators with the PLASMA teletext content management solution and installed systems globally, SysMedia has developed Plasma Gold to allow broadcasters to publish digital text services across the new digital TV platforms, the internet and to existing teletext users.
SysMedia also develops and supplies software for the production of subtitles for the broadcast and DVD markets. It has developed new multimedia software for language versioning subtitling and also specialises in live subtitling using speech and fast keyboard inputs.
SysMedia Group plc is now listed on ShareMark, which operates an electronic auction market that matches buyers and sellers at a single price. It's a simple, cost-effective and accessible means to trade shares.
David Lowen is a former Director General of EuroNews, Europe's most watched news channel. He was a board director of Yorkshire Television, with executive responsibility for network programme and corporate development. He led the ITV Network team that launched digital terrestrial services. David now advises international broadcasters and corporate financiers. He is a director of the Palm fm radio station, a broadband video distribution company and a programme making company. He is Honorary Secretary and trustee of the Royal Television Society, a shareholder in IBC, and a board member of Circom, the organisation of European regional television stations.
Andrew has been involved in producing innovative solutions for the broadcast industry for the last 30 years. His initial work focused on the subtitling area, leading to significant productivity increases during offline subtitle preparation and the introduction of new live subtitling techniques. His expanded team then broadened into teletext, pioneering the first Windows-based multi-user teletext production management and transmission system - PLASMA - which is still a best-seller. From then he was responsible for the project groups that developed the Gold solution for digital text and cross-platform interactive services, and the WinCAPS MultiMedia system for live and offline subtitling. As a major shareholder in SysMedia, Andrew has invested considerably in the company's success and sees great future opportunities for the business in the broadcast and allied markets as users look for end-to-end solutions to deliver new services.
